Let me ask this; if I'm planning to move within the next two years should I plant it then dig it up again when I move? That's the reason I've been hesitant about planting in the ground.
We've all made that mistake, or at least 90% of everyone on this forum. Do what Auk said. You can pot it on a bigger pot let grow, then move to a bigger pot, let grow... then you can go ahead an pot in the ground.

just let it grow, while you research what bonsai is, what the difference is between mallsai and bonsai, and how to take care for a juniper.
Your first concern is to keep it alive. This plant is not ready to be pruned '/ thinned out.
Did anyone tell you yet that this plant needs to be outdoors?

Posted 8 years 5 months ago #24275We will repot this one and search for a more mature plant to work with. I had a few moments at the local nursery this evening and took note of what was available that is suitable for bonsai.

Did you actually research yet what makes a tree suitable for bonsai?

Posted 8 years 5 months ago #24277I've also seen quite a few of your posts as well, Auk, and have come to see that although you have a fair bit of experience and knowledge your curt responses and cynical attitude towards others, especially novices, is quite off-putting to say the least. This is a very small forum and it is likely due to folks such as yourself. I'll continue my research elsewhere and interact with those who have a bit more patience for the amateur.

Bye bye, and let me give you a reference to this very website:
But there are more resources that tell you what to look for when buying starter material. I hope you find something nice - which is acdtually not that easy when buying from a (non-bonsai) nursery.

Someone help me please...
I've been reviewing my answers to wabbitGTI, rereading them the way I write them - with a serious, but not unfriendly, look on my face (as I'm a serious, not unfriendly person, and I take bonsai seriously).
I cannot find anything offensive, just replies that I think are helpful. What am i overlooking?
