Sorry to hear abou this.
However, I would like to make a point here. Too often on this forum I hear people claim that organic soild causes root rot. This is absolutely not true. Millions of trees are grown every year using plan organic potting soil. It is improper watering that causes roots to die, and subsequent rot. Rotting is an endresult of improper care. Especially the young saplings that we see most on this forum do not per se need anything else than potting soil.
The plant may have died due to the repot. But it may also have drowned by your eagerness to not let the plant dry out..
