Strong pruning now that the plant has started to build sap-pressure, may lead to a serious loss of nutrients. That, with the roots pruned off, may seriously weaken the plant.
Does this apply to my trees as well??
I have read it is best to do all the cutting in the winter/fall before the Summer or afterwards, so that when it is Summer the plant can grow new shoots, and heal itself better. Is what I have read not accurate?

Please log in or register to see it.
the circled area is the leader i would pick .i thought the little sprout above the 1st branch was on the trunk but i see it is part of branch#2 :S
rosemary do not grow particularly fast so i figured keeping as much of the trunk as you can would do best .i picked that leader because it has some movement and it splits ( good pre-apex) along with adding taper
.rosemary backbud well so getting another right side branch shouldnt be a problem."
the growing angle should be more upright so tilting the pot or doing a "slip pot" repot will benefit. rosemary grow strongly towards light

Ok, I cut back all the branches I know you said to cut for certain, however there are a few branches I was hesitant about and have not cut yet, wanting to ask you first. I think it looks nice with all the branches it has now, but would trust your judgement more
Also, If you think any of the other trees are not worth my time, PLEASE inform me as I do not wish to waste time on a tree that will never be much.

But I decided not to cut any more branches off, and leave it how it is..Im afraid I will kill it if I do more.
Also, are any of the other rosemary plants worth my time?? or should I just plant them in the ground and forget about making them bonsai???
I would appreciate it if someone could answer this last question. (Im beginning to feel like im talking to myself )

Just a sign of life
I am not answering, while I do not like rosemary very much for bonsai So I'd personally stick all of them in the garden. But that is personal preference.

LuLu: thinks about starting even MORE bonsai so that in 20 years a nice collection! ( I actually found a nice maple that I think could become something...)
Is it alright if I take my Rosemary and put it in a ceramic bonsai pot? or do I have to wait, and If I do have to wait how long should I wait?
And once you put it in a display pot you must use bonsai dirt and fertilize it???

putting it in a small pot will only slow the growth so id leave it .put a slow release granular fert on the soil surface (10/10/10 NPK or less) and that will be fine
