I'm sure all this discussion about water confused the original poster... Rainwater, groundwater, tap water do not have the same quality everywhere and all the time, so testing yours might be a good idea and is the only way to be sure of it's quality. . Azaleas like acidic soil, with a low pH, and putting water with high pH in the pot is something they don't like. Their roots are very fine, and also don't like mineral deposits from the water in the soil. all that being said, I'm not sure if your problem is related to pH from the water.. more than likely from the soil.

Agreed, hence my suggestion to pot it up in kanuma separately
