Sorry, I meant tropical.
What species do you think it is?
I thought it is this (exactly what original label stated):
Attached picture from last summer.

SUBtropical, not tropical.
I have no idea what species it is. But a simple Google search shows that it is not F uhdei.
Did it shed leafs every winter in your care?

Yes it did. When this happened for the first time during first winter, I thought it was because of stress from moving the tree just before the winter. I even bought a liquid healing solution to help the tree. But when it shed leafs again in next two winters, I believed it was natural.

Very interesting that you get anual leaf shedding in indoor trees. I have never heard about that before.

Yes, it looks very much like a Chinese Ash Tree to me.
I have one, it's outside all year round and it thrives happily since 5 years. I live in downtown Milano, northern Italy, where temps range from 0 Celsius in Jan up to 35-40 Celsius in summer.
It sheds leaves in autumn.
So my advice is to gradually put it outside (in the shade for the first 20-30 days).

Fraxinus Uhdei that we are talking about is called tropical ash and are native to Mexico and central america.
The species Ricky refers to, Chinese ash is Fraxinus chinensis.
It makes a big difference In terms of care.
If the tree is really any of the species, its ability to reduce leaf size is just amazing! I want one, but Ill go fr chinensis as I want to keep it outdoors in Sweden.

There are a couple of applications like Google Lens that will tell you what the tree is, and I would trust that more than a paper label. Or, for that matter, what one of us thinks from a picture.
I also would not trust a sales clerk to know plant care. Take the latin name that Lens finds, see where it grows, and model your care on that environment.
You could also find a bonsai club near you, join it, and get with members there.

I doubt Google lens can see differences in the many ash species.
I recomend using seek by Inaturalist. If the app is not sure about exact species it will just return family or genus, not give you a wild guess as Google lens do.

Quick update photo after one week. The tree seems fine. I kept it inside because of outside temperatures dropping to 1 degree Celsius. I am not sure if I will put it outside because we have only a small open balcony with no safe place.

What a great species! Behave like an outdoor tree indoors. I have never seen that before. And respond by reducing leafs just by putting it into a small pot, not by years of training. Amazing!
I have always claimed that there are no such thing as indoor trees. I stand firm on that, but this is really pretty damn close.
It seems like you missed some of the chariaristics of a broom style tree when pruning. Some branches that is certain to go for that style is still there. Can you take a picture from the front?
