We have leaves. That's why I kind a wired them in the water to stay upright.
I think it might be better to use styrofoam from start to make it stay upright and to control the surface of the root buds but ....

yeah... that's pretty cool. As beginner... I read so much about air layering and other techniques, that I become hesitant that it would work for me. But it's inspiring to see how this has worked for you. I guess you don't know till you try. Although a wise little green jedi once said that there is no try, only do or do not.

I doubt that this will work on anything than willows. But hell what do we know...
My dad has about 50 trees in his garden. All of them for the different fruits they put out.
He did graft them. He is pretty good at keeping them alive and he's done that for about 10-20 years now and he said he didn't saw anything root from a cutting this big. )))
So...
