OK so I made a rough sketch with my phone of what I think it should look like,
Is this the right way to look at it?
As for the pruning I will try my best thinning it out for now then I will update.
Ps: is this the right time to prune or should I wait till the last frosts are over ?
Thanks
Nico

Hi Enaisio.
I like the way you did the pruning but wouldn?t go for the "clouds" look like on japanese caricature of a tree but rather would go for a natural deciduous tree look.
Something like this:

Ahh I see , that's much better , I knew mine looked strange but I couldn't figure out why , now I see thanks . This also makes it easier to know what to remove and what to keep. I was looking at it as if the branches I left where the primary and secondary branches but this way I see them more as the main trunk , this helps a lot thanks

One reason was that you have very large pads on top, but little ones at the bottom.
It should be the reverse: larger pads at the bottom, smaller ones the higher you get.
That would look better, but indeed it would make the tree look like the 'pompom' style trees you seein gardens. A more natural look would work better.

OK got it now , i should have already known that the smaller pads go at the top , dont know what i was thinking lol but its certainly much better with the natural look .thanks everyone for your input .
Still have an issue about the pruning , should I do some thinning out of the new shoots just now or should I wait until the danger of frost is over ?
Thanks again everyone

I would let it grow for 2-3 months now and then choose branches I could use...and the tree gets a chance to recover for a while.

and don't forget.. your drawing is in 2D, but your tree is 3D, so don't forget back branches for depth when you prune and style..

OK great I will wait a couple of months then send an update
Cronic : thanks for reminding me , one question tho , what style would this tree be considered under ?
Just so I can look up the guidelines on this style
Thanks

Lonicera grows so fast, and is so strong.. If you wait a few months you cannot adjust anything anymore. I would do the tip selction now, flipping off up to 50% of the growing points in places where you do not need them

OK so I should start now ? I don't think I have the guts to go as far as 50 % but I'll try my best , I think my head is a bit clearer on what I'm supposed to keep and what to lose.
I just remembered that I also have to repot this tree as it is quite pot bound and the soil is quite heavy and never seems to dry out , when would be the best time to do this if I do the pruning now ?
