Cool...do you think it's big enough to re-pot, or should I wait a few months?

In bonsai repotting means a big work including root pruning and quite often a smaller pot. That must be done in the right time of the year on mature trees and by experienced hands.

What I suggest is uppotting which means putting it into a larger container and filling up with more new soil without touching the roots. That can be done by anyone, in any stage of development and any time of the year except from when soil is frozen.

Here's an update! I removed the moss from around the trunk and got rid of a few shoots coming from the ground, so I could get a better look at the soil. I also trimmed it up a bit....now it's going outside to grow for a month or two before I up-pot it! How's it look?

Anyway, I cannot see any reason for any pruning whatsoever on this tree. Very common beginners misstake. Developing bonsai is first of all about growing. Pruning is secondary and only done when the tree has grown. For beginners the fingers itch and they always want to prune trees not ready for pruning. You are not alone.

I only pruned the shoots growing at the base of the tree so I could check on the soil. I hope I didn't cut too much off! I'll leave it be for awhile and see how it grows.

Low growing shoots is very valuable in early development as they help to thicken and build taper on the trunk.

I just realized the pot my juniper is in doesn't have any drainage holes. Should I relocate it to a pot with better drainage, or can it wait until it gets a little bigger before I do that?
