Hello, I am new to bonsai. For the past month, my bonsai and my sister's bonsai are nearing the verge of death. My bonsai tree is a serissa pink and my sisters' is a serissa mt fuiji. We are both inexperienced and want our bonsai to become green and healthy again.

From the picture, they look a little dry.
Where you you keep them? (I hope you realize the coffeetable is NOT a place for a plant)

Are they being kept outside?
Are you watering them when the substrate feels dry?
They look young and in need of sun and fresh air.

I keep them in the living room and outside in my backyard. I do water them, but I don't know when to stop watering them and don't know if I water them too much

Keep them out side. Water them with the top soil looks dry and stop only after you see the water coming out of the bottom of the pot. There are a few ways of watering, you could fill a try with water and stick the plant and pot in the tray and wait until you see the top soil get wet, the soil will suck up the water from the tray. Or use a watering can and water the top until the water comes out the bottom and stop after a few seconds, bonsai should be kept out side depending on the species year round and watered daily depending on your location maybe even more.

Do trees lift their roots, and run to a cave when it starts raining or when it gets really hot?
No they don't... trees did not evolve to move around, they evolved to be stationary. They also didn't evolve to grow in a pot, so you have to take some extra care. However, bringing them inside is NOT by any means going to help them, but the opposite. It will kill them. When it rains, let it be, what is the issue with rain? When it is too hot, make sure they don't dry out.
