Just wondering, is it possible to wire a bonsai trunk that is already partly developed? Say, on a Fukien Tea with a trunk about 1.5 cm thick? Seems like the tree is 2-3 years old.
Thanks in advance.

Being that size it should be no problem. Any chance we can see it?

Thanks. Was just wondering b/c trunk feels pretty sturdy. I'm thinking 5mm wire.

I doubt you can bend that succesfully, let alone in the shape you want.

Fukien branches are pretty brittle even the smallest branches often break , I doubt that the trunk would move an inch before cracking .

Wire may or may not get you there do some testing with your hands first, bonsai bending clamps if wire ain't do it, cover the bark with raphia or rubber from an inside tire, go slow on it patient brings results.

I'll probably have to leave the trunk how it is. I agree with Enaisio, it feels pretty brittle. Its curving n an "s" shape and I wanted to straighten out the curves a bit. The other branches fell pretty flexible though so I should be able to work with those. What it the best time to wire a Fukien Tea? Does it need defoliation first?

I'll look into the clamps and raphia. If not, it seems like it has potential for Shari (later).
