I would not do any work on this plant. It doesn't seem healthy enough.

Needs time or stressed? I water it when ever it feels dry and prune the leaves when they get to a certain size. Maybe it is the soil? It feel like regular potting soil and spongy.

Thanks

The plant gets its energy through the leaves. Do not prune them this way. If you continue to prune leaves when they get to a certain size, you will weaken the plant and it may eventually die.

OK. I read in a book and somewhere else that you could prune the leaves to encourage the new ones to be smaller. Any time I should prune them? Also, what are signs that this tree can be wired? Would I have to wait another year?

Thanks

One more question: Would repotting this tree help it or just out more stress on it?

Thanks

It does not exactly work this way. You prune to get more ramification. Ramification gives more leaves. More leaves per branch = smaller leaves.
You need growth before you can prune. You really need to let this plant grow first.

There? nothing you can wire, really. Let it grow.

Alright, thanks so much for the help. How long? Any advice?

I am a bit worried it might not be getting enough water. It takes about a week+ for the soil to dry out. That is when i soak it with the hose for about three minutes.

Without leaves, the plant does not use water.
Your plant needs to be left alone, grow. When it is just one ball of green, other things come to play. This may be months from now. Patiences is skill nr one in bonsai.

I'll leave it then for a while and track its progress. Thank you. Will the soil be OK for now?

I would not repot it now. Make sure you water properly. Monitor the tree. If it grows healthy leaves it's fine.
