Beginner here in need of help :) was created by Getz

Hello everyone!
Last year I started my first "bonsai project" and I'm in need of some very basic help, any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
For starters, I have very little experience in this, I merely took an apple seed and planted it in a random pot to see if it will grow and now after a year I have a healthy (I hope) little apple sprout. I don't know if I can make it into a bonsai tree but I count on you guys to tell me if it is possible.

In another 5 to 10 years you might have something. Meanwhile get rid of those stones and I hope it is outside.

If you're willing to take care of that seedling for about 20 years and if you plant it in the ground it might one day become a bonsai , but in the mean time I strongly recommend you buy more trees to learn the various techniques and the patience you need to make bonsai .

When strong enough, plant it outside and wait a few years. Use that time to study bonsai - they are NOT created by growing plants in little pots.

Thank you guys, I can't plant it outside out of fear of freezing to death because of very low temperatures.
Is it possible to influence the growth in a healthy manner?
Would re-potting it in something bigger help it grow and stay healthy?
I'm all ears on any suggestion about the soil and other types of trees that could help me develop any skill.

Wait for the weather to get better then you can plant it outside then by the time it's winter again it will be strong enough to survive , for now go to a good garden centre buy a nice tree with a decent size trunk and a nice shape , maybe spend around 20 quid ( or whatever currency you use ) , before you do any work on it read up everything there is to know about the species and maybe post it on this forum for advice , then you can get started with learning the basics of bonsai .

So the only way of making it stronger would be planting it in the soil outside?
I'm very uncomfortable planting it outside due to children and animals so I keep it on my highest balcony with the most sun available. I keep it inside during winter though.

Planting it in the ground is the best thing but if you can't a big pot will do fine the bigger the better:)

How do you think plants survive in nature? Trees belong outside. Keep it indoors in winter and it will die.
