Okay, so a bigger pot is the 2nd best option for me in this case? Winter is almost over and I was aware of the risks toying with a tree like that but it went good so far, I just thought -15/20 C would've killed it, couldn't let that happen.

Dont listen to enaisio advice as. I would not pot it up onto a bigger container untill it needs a bigger container just because the container is biger does not mean it would act the same as if it was planted into the ground out side in fact if the pot is to much bigger than the size of the root ball it would be detrimental to the plant and cause a lot more root damage than good you should pott it up 2 inches bigger than the root ball then wait for it to fill the pot with roots and then repeat this way the soil will not remain to wet and not get absorbed by the plant.

Okay, I have been using the same pot in which I planted the seed initially. My intention was to wait until the roots have developed enough so I can re-pot it later to a more bonsai-suitable pot. I'm just not sure if the sapling has enough nutrients to go by nor should I even influence it by adding fertilizer by this point.

it's not a "sapling" yet, that takes a few years, no i would wait on feeding, seedlings die so easily. Then again, they are easy to replace, have fun :silly:

Sorry about the wrong advice , thought that a seedlings roots would spread out quickly enough in a big pot , I didn't think it would have been the same as an already settled tree where the main roots are already thickened .
Sorry again , will be more informed next time I give advice

Welcome to the wonderful world of bonsai :) Sowing seeds is one good way of getting started and I would recommend sowing as many as you have space for each year, so long as you are prepared to wait the 10 -20 years to develop your bonsai material.
Whilst doing this visit some bonsai nurseries and consider buying some of the cheaper "beginners" trees in the ?20 -?40 range and join a bonsai society or club where you can learn how to care for and develop your trees. There are many excellent on line resources such as this site, 名媛直播 Tonight, 名媛直播4me and Kaizen bonsai to name a few which have high quality advice for the enthusiast. There is also a large selection of books which you should be able to access via a good library to help guide you through the various techniques you will need to learn.
Good luck with your hobby and try not to get too focussed on developing one seedling!

Thank you Samantha, apparently I got a long way to go for a sapling then. :)
So if I got this right, it's imperative to re-pot the plant once the roots start to develop beyond the pot capacity, how long should I wait before doing anything else like using a fertilizer and etc?
