Help with Maple

I thought the same. Perhaps the spot i had it in wasn't as shaded as I thought. However, when I moved it to the balcony for even more shade that didn't solve the problem either from what I could tell.

I had the same problem with my maples. I have them in the shade of a large tree. Since you've seemed to solve the shade problem, I would just leave it be and let it recover. I wouldn't expect immediate results. Maybe someone on here will say other wise. I know that moving it around will only stress it out.

Looks like wind damage to me. Did it sit in an wind exposed area?

I was thinking it could have been from wind as well, but it hasn't been particularly windy and when I had it on the side of the building it sat between several larger bushes so those should have cut most of the wind out.
My initial thought was that it was from the sheer heat, considering it gets miserably hot down here, but then thought that even though I tried to put it in the shade of the larger bushes it sits between, as well as the shade of a larger tree, that the direct sunlight it gets at times during the first half of the day might be too much for it. I'll be looking for an even more shaded area.
