Help - is my bonsai dying?

Hi - I acquired this bonsai last year and for quite a while it seemed happy. It has been kept indoors (I believe the note that came with the plant indicated it could be kept indoors) and I watered weekly as per the instructions. A month or two back, the leaves started looking very dry, and I tried watering it a bit more, but this doesn't seem to have helped. Having done more research now, perhaps it has been overwatered, as the soil was still damp when I watered.
I have not given it any fertilizer, and from what I have read here, I shouldn't do that until it has recovered. Perhaps repotting might work but given I know very little about bonsais at this point, this may not be the best idea as well. I'm also struggling to identify what type of tree - at first I though it might be a juniper bonsai and therefore may need to be outside. Currently it sits on a window ledge where it gets a fair amount of indirect sunlight (facing east). Any suggestions or help would be much appreciated.

Thanks for the photo. You can find this plant under 'Tree species' (top of the page), under 'Identify my bonsai'. Look under the Deciduous Evergreens.
It looks dead to me (though I'm not familiar with this species)

Thanks Auk - not good news. I still struggled to identify the actual bonsai from the list. Does anyone else have any suggestions or views - is my plant dead or is there anything I can do?

My mistake. I copy/pasted the wrong title. It's under "Coniferous evergreen"sp1 wrote: I still struggled to identify the actual bonsai from the list.
