Yes it is in evergreen coniferous , and it does look dead from the pics , note that some evergreens keep there leaves green for quite a while even though their dead but you never know , try watering it only when the soil is nearly dry and if it's summer where you are trying move it outside and pray

Your tree is a Buddhist pine Podocarpus macrophyllus , My guess is over watering and not draining soil root rot, I got 10 trees of them. cuts can be taken and put in soil with root hormone.
