I am very sure you have not read that on this forum, or any other reputable bonsai forum.
The standard advice on this forum, for people with new plants and new at the hobby is:
Leave it alone, don't prune, wire or repot *), first learn to take care of it and let it thrive, then start learning about bonsai techniques.
*) Unless when a picture shows a clear need for an immediate repotting
I was reading one thread where the comment was made that the plant (also a ficus, if that is indeed what I have) had grown too tall without care and would never have a nice, dense foliage.
Seriously... I wonder what forums you've been visiting.

I have 14 of those in my garden... 2 years old. What a shameless rip off.

That reminds me, I'm selling a 1yo pomegranate seedling for $30. Any takers?

I might be interested if it is suitable for cascade, because I love cascading pomegranate, like this one:

You are so wrong. I have never seen anything like that at Walmart, Lowes, or even at that Chinese road-side stall.
That is not a bonsai. This is. A wind-swept white pine:

Check out this thread:
I might be reading it wrong, but it seems to me like this one was let grow for too long and now there isn't really much to be done with it, other than play around and learn. That was my initial concern (although after further discussion its clear the real concern is getting the thing to grow for a period).
Whatever the end result may be, or whatever limitations a plant such as mine may come with, I still believe approaching it with as much care as possible.

These people must be stopped.
I'm going to care for it like a houseplant for the time being. Hopefully in a year I can check back in. Appreciate everyone's time!
Perfect, that's exactly what we want to hear people say. It's nice to know that people can actually listen to advice every now and again.

Thought you all may be interested, this is what came with the plant. I almost wonder if the broken English is done purposefully to make it seem more authentic.
