See that was a little more helpful to some one who is starting out
and in some ways I do agree with your points Auk but it is better to start on something that you like but not love.
and Elms tend to be one of these even if it is just to get the foot in the door and learn some basic techniques.

The only thing I would not have done is ordered the tree I would have hand picked the tree!!
