I'm actually not sure if it's really a hinoki. Having seen the close ups, I'm not even sure if this is good bonsai material.
I have to say, right at the bottom where there must have been a chop, and two branches have grown, it does not look too nice and making it look nice would take a lot if time. If you as well think it is not good material, you could air layer a good looking branch. Just a thought .
