Sigh!

bob wrote: Please do not think I am counter arguing

Hm.. Now why would I get that idea, unless you are?

bob wrote: fungus knat larvae is a greenhouse pest like spider mite so it reproduces indoors, and when you water and the water runs through the holes the larvae runs through the hole as well with the water into the tray.

Read what I wrote. I wrote that I can only think of a few species that reproduce in waterr, and none of them reproduce indoors.

Fungus gnat and spider mite have NOTHING in common except that they are animals that have a vegetarian diet. One is an insect, the other a spider. One has larvea that feed on decaying organic matter, and incidentally may affect roots of weak plants, and the other had adults that suck moisture from leaves and in some cases above-ground stems.

Fungus gnat larvea do not flush from the pot when you water. And even if they would.. They CANNOT LIVE IN WATER, as I just wrote.

As always, you're very welcome, and the suggestion stands: Read more, write less.

Sorry for the confusion, I mean they both are greenhouse pests as it says. They cannot live in water, yes, but do you want dying things in your tray, or would you prefer dead ones 'cause I would. I am not the clearest person when it comes to writing. Please do not quote that and say"yep"or anything similar. And please I only mean to correct, but if you still think you are right, then it is counter arguing, I do not even know if that is a proper word connected by a dash.

Stop it. Just stop. Every time you write something and someone points out the flaws in your reasoning, you change your story a bit and say what you wrote first is not what you meant. You twist and turn until you write something that is almost a contradiction of what you wrote first.

It is getting annoying. Stop. Think, research, then think again before you post.

I'm not going to regurgitate this whole conversation.

Just one remark...

You referred to this post:
"If you have water in humidity trays then add salt to it. It kills larvae of mosquitoes so I assume it would do for other stuff also"

Did you really base your advise to use salt on this single post on another forum only - where the writer only ASSUMES this will work?

I post it on the trial that I have executed many times along with my friends. how many people can be bothered to create a website, that is why I can only find one reference and also the fact that most people use pesticides.

Understood. On this small Internet with only a couple of pages about pest control, it would be hard to find articles about such techniques, even if they are well known and proven to work.

read the next bit "and also the fact that most people use pesticides" and I do not know how you look at the internet, but in my opinion it is massive. it is just cheaper to use salt in my opinion.

Urgh...

Let me rephrase it.

If on this massive Internet, where good and bad advise is found about every possible subject, you can only find one reference from one person on one forum, then you have no proof that this technique is really tested, reviewed and found to be effective.

If it was tested, reviewed and found to be effective, you would find articles about it all over the place.

I can find a few pages about drip trays and salt. It involves an oven.

One more time:
Don't make statemens without doing proper research first.
