Dani_321 wrote: Thanks for the input everyone... I'm starting to think though that it could be a type of ficus? I took a leaf off the plant and a white substance (latex?) leaked out from where the stem was attached to the branch. When I broke the leaf in half though there was no white substance. I found some ficus pics that look similar in a book. I'll attach a photo from google.
Ficus, no way hosay, but good thinking though, I would not blame you, but remember that white latex solutions can come from many plants that can be bad for you or neutral-white latex comes from dandelion, and many other things. Again, make sure you wash your hands after touching the white latex.
Happy bonsai-ing

Maybe you should just not try to identify trees anymore :evil:bob wrote: Ficus, no way hosay, but good thinking though
John Lee wrote: You are correct, you have a ficus neriflora, or willow leaf ficus. They make really nice bonsai.
John
Or even the Ficus salicaria

In defense of Bob - I made the same mistake, and I think Bob's guess was really not a bad one (well... obviously, as else I should stop trying to identify trees myself )
See the image:
1. The tree to be identified
2. Nerium * Oleander
3. Ficus Nerifolia *
* that's not a coincidence.
