here's a few pictures of the Azalea..

If the main trunk is alive - not sure about that, I only see new growth at the base ? - then this can be good bonsai material.
The leaves look small enough. The trunk is usable (if alive).

It's going to require radical pruning... you'd prune all branches and only leave a trunk and only a few shoots.
This should cause it to backbud and form new shoots that you can use to develop the branch structure.

Ofcourse there's much more to it. I'd suggest you Google for 'how to train an azalea bonsai'.

I would leave it for now. Let it regain vigor. At the moment it looks like the cutting back was done earlier this year (?) which means the plant is still stressing over the last big hit you gave it. Then in fall you could consider taking a spade and just cutting all the roots by making a big cutting circle in the ground at about 8 inches from the trunks. In spring you could lift it, and move into a container.

well my wife said for me to try this one so I ordered it and I think it looks good and healthy'
she has already named it. it's a Ginseng Grafted Ficus 名媛直播 Tree, Ficus microcarpa Ginseng.

do you think I can make something out of it or is it just a waste of time wife realy liked it so she picked it out. it showed it as 6 years old.still going to look at more later this weekend.

should I start a new thread for it?
what do I need to do first?
Thank's for any advice in advance.
here a few pic of it.

Hm.. This 'bonsaiplant' is not something people that are serious about bonsai would use.
IF you want to go ahead and really start growing bonsai, you should read a bit on the principles of bonsai, visit some shows and/or join a club, in order to avoid disappointment.

Slowhand I know exactly what you mean. You?ll see my first tree came as a gift from my wife and, of course, she didn?t have a clue of what a suitable or potentially good bonsai should look like. So, she bought the first one the local trader told her to and guess what... It was a grafted ficus ginseng of allegedly 12 years old.

Now, the true is that even if I knew it wouldn?t ever be a true bonsai I?ve come attached to it. So, I take good care of it and since ficus it is a very hardy species, I?ve been practicing and experiencing with him firstly. So, what I?m trying to say it is that don?t discourage yourself, instead, seize the opportunity to keep learning and practicing your skills and the next time you?ll get a better specimen with far greater possibilities and then you would apply all those new skills you?ve been acquiring thanks to your grafted "mallsai" ficus ginseng. They are simply great to learn!!!

yes I agree with both of you, Alain I took what you said and started in on it lol..hope I didn't kill it. we both think it looks better now lol.

do you think I should pull it out of the pot and look at the root's. for rot and root circling pot.

also I think there should be some more limbs taken out mostly the one that crosses over
going to try and do some wireing on it next .

just trying to learn on this one,

Thank's for all the help.

the new look. don't be to brutial on me, but be honest.

Is there aany indication there might be root problems? Did it stop growing? Does the plant smell? Yellowing of large areas of foliage? If not,, there is no reason for repotting. With every single thing you do, ask yourself: Why would I do this, and do I need to do this.

More plants dy from over-caring than from under-caring, if we ignore forgetting to water ;)

well here is what I got from Dallas 名媛直播 Garden which you can find on some pages at the bottom of this forum. i guess they help fund this forum.

now i'am off to a nursery or woods. was very disappointed in the tree. i thought I would get a little nicer tree lol .may throw it away lol. or just give it to my neighbor to plant in her yard.

it was listed as,
Premium 名媛直播 Starter Kit - Informal Upright Juniper

Our premium informal upright bonsai tree kit now not only includes a larger informal upright bonsai tree, this kit includes a premium bonsai shear and the bonsai 101 book. This is everything you need to grow, and train your new bonsai into a beautiful work of art. This bonsai has been pruned to let the light in, and it is the perfect canvas for you to create your masterpiece with as it is ready for you to style and wire. You are only limited by your imagination!

The 名媛直播 tree shown here is a good representations of what you will receive. Mature Juniper foliage and exfoliating bark make it an excellent choice among the many varieties. This is the Juniper that the Japanese use for 名媛直播. Very popular in the USA.

here is a few pic of it.oh it's 5 inches tall.
