haha funny you ask that..the answer is no,but it is my plan someday i am 2 years into a 5 year plan to start selling trees, and i am hoping to have a nursery someday.

were are you located ? im sure i know of a nursery near you ( as long as you are in the U.S.)

i do agree patience is the biggest key to bonsai success and with this you wil be on your way to a collection of trees. it is just what happens to some of us i guess.some people give up and think it is too time consuming and others just buy more trees to keep their hands busy.my personal advice is read alot and ask questions.there are alot of books and sites out there with alot of the same info in them, but i have noticed each one has a jewel of information that the next doesnt.

Thank you for answering my query Manofthetrees lol, That is interesting, I will probably still be on here when your 5 year plan is up haha :) when you start selling trees, please send me a notice! I would appreciate it a lot.

Also, yes I could easily find a bonsai shop near me,...but I was interested to see if you had one started, because I would buy from you if you did, if you were willing to ship lol :cheer: it is nice that you are working towards one, I wish you the best with your enterprise.

Yes I will definitely continue to read a lot! there is always something new to learn :) and thank you again for everything.

OK so it has been a month since I dug up my wisteria vine and potted it. My plant has accustomed itself to the pot and is doing fine. :)

I was wondering if it would alright to cut it down shorter, so that it would grow fatter in the trunk instead of longer. There is a branch that is about 3ft. up from where the vine enters the soil, and I wanted to cut there to make that branch the leader. This would shorten mine vine, but leave it some leaves to keep it healthy. What would you advise?? :)

Here are some pictures that hopefully may help. Im sorry the photographs are not better, I did not bother to reset my camera settings for the lighting.

in my opinion you should just let them grow for this year. cutting them will do no good for producing a fatter trunk more vigourus growth will

So it is best if I wait to cut the vine back in early spring?? or should I cut it back late this winter?? ( I think perhaps I should have cut it in August? O.o if so, is it to late to cut it back now? )

Thank you so much Manofthetrees!, one last question, when I cut it down, I do not want the cut to get wet or it may rot, yes? So would putting a plastic bag over the cut fix this problem?

when you do cut the trunk make the cut slightly higher than the planned leader. the stub will dry out naturaly leaving the needed growing parts of the tree (natural dieback) which can be cut away at a later date. if you cut too close to the new leader there is a chance that the dieback will include your chosen leader.

once the stub is cut back the wound can be sealed with a wound sealant or just plain petroleum jelly to prevent infection and speed up the scaring/healing process

is it alright if I cut the trunk back to a point where there are no buds, and so no leader. And let it make new branches from the trunk next Spring? Also is it alright if I cut the tree back in December? because I will be leaving for college and really really want to take it with me but if it has to remain at this height I will never fit it in the car =(
