I am worried about putting it outside as in Scotland it gets very cold and killing it. Would it be wise to wait until spring to take it outside? And if so what would be the most suitable spot?

For any tree at all, look up care requirements and see what temperature ranges they need. Most species have to have a dormant period of a couple of weeks to a couple of months. They won't get that in a room heated to normal human range. Without the dormant period it won't survive

I'm always thinking about "the future". What if there were something like a vine/wire that embeds itself into the tree spiraled around the trunk could allow for the hormones and life cycle of plants to be manipulated and possibly suppress dormancy?

Or is it not too far fetched to contend that trees have rhythms / cycles that just CANNOT be changed.

I get the feeling that indoor is like severely frowned upon. How hard is it to emulate a sufficient environment indoors? Could you put it in the fridge or even a mini fridge for dormancy, put a wee watch battery powered LED in there too if needed?

Maybe icy water aero bonsai to better simulate the cold indoors? Yes aero meaning the roots are misted, I have no clue as to at what rate you have to keep re-moistening the roots at.

Trees have evolved to an environment for millions of years. The adaptations is somewhat genetically fixed. Proboably not possible to change without genetic engineering. I dont think anyone here has the knowledge or skills for that.

There are off cource tropical species as well. They normally go between dry and wet seasons in nature. They are often sold as indoor trees. Experience have shown that most of them suffer in northern hemisphere winters indoors due to lack of light and humidity. Most succesful trooical trees are held in low but not freezing environment in winter. That balances the need of light to the awailability of light. The more north you are, the cooler it needs to be. For me in sweden 5c works good.

Fridge or freezer has been tried unsucsessful several times. The problem is most likelly too dry and too little light.

There are many people who grow deciduous trees indoors. And yes, it mostly involved extensive investments in equipment to control the climate. It can be done. Is it easy? Mostly, no. Is it prone to failure, yes.

I am not sure why everybody focusses on trying to do somethign the hard way, if the easy way is already challenging enough for most.

Grow plants in the climatic conditions they are evaolved to grow under. Be it indoors or outdoors. Just know that growing species that are local to you, and then outside is the easiest way to keep your trees topfit. And you need top fit trees to do the things done to them in order to create bonsai. 名媛直播 is NOT keeping a plant alive in a pot. That is just horticulture.
