Posted 3 years 2 months ago #73303Well, everybody has to start somewhere, I'm not here to compete to anyone, I'm here to learn with you guys, and share/talk about the experiences I had, and maybe you or other people could also learn something, even if tru' my mistakes...leatherback wrote: The one whose trees you prefer.

Posted 3 years 2 months ago #73305My general advice it to follow the recommendations given by a person whose trees you like. Makes no sense to do whatever someone does whose trees you do not like, or where you cannto tell whether the person knows!?

Posted 3 years 2 months ago #73345In my country many pines are collected from bogs. They are not accessible all thrue the year and not every year. In order to collect them there needs to be some flexibility regarding timing. I have a few trees marked for collection back in summer 2019. They havent been accessible since then. I will collect anytime from mid authum to mid spring, as soon as the area is dry enogh to do it.

Collecting good looking trees is a matter of selecting the right trees, not at all a matter of when you collect. Obviously collecting in mid summer might kill the tree and never give you a good looking tree.
So why do you bring it up?
