Hi
iv kept my tree indoors for the first few day of having it watered it every day. It's now getting yellow leaves and some starting to go brown. i was thinking of changing where i leave it and put it out side. is that a good idea.
is there any special place I should place it out side. and what should i do about yellow leaves. would liquid fertilising help with stopping the yellow leave

The answer to all your questions is, it depends on what species it is. So please post species name and a picture of the tree.

Are you in the northern hemisphere? Chinese elm should be kept cool and dormant this time of the year. You need to find a strategy to give it 5-10 degrees and sunny position. Come spring just put it outside were it belongs and keep it there at all time only protecting it from temperatures below -10.

What he ( tropfrog) says, and i'll top that off with; do not fertillise an unhealthy tree, will do more harm than good

Unhealthy: it is inside, in terrible "soil" and has long, leggy shoots and pale leaves.
If temps in your part of the world are above freezing ( here in belgium 20 degrees predicted for the weekend) place it outside and leave it there.

Since the tree havent got hardened off in authum it is very sensitive to frost. That will not be an issue next year. But for this year, if you are expecting frost, protect the tree.

The tree is not healthy, newer fertilize an unhealthy tree.

When the tree comes outdoors and as spring comes, all of your issues will be solved with sunshine, wind and proper watering.

i was wandering does rain affect the amount of watering i should do. is rain to much for the bonsai. and if the tree is in the direct sun is that a bad thing.

many thanks
