After recently acquiring a my first two Japanese White Pines, I was wondering if anyone would be able to offer an opinion as to what this might be on the branch? I am presuming it is some type of fungus.
Thanks in advance.

Posted 4 years 5 months ago #61792Thanks for your reply, given the overall health of the tree I wouldn't imagine it has a fungus problem.
Another new species to add to my garden - and another world of new anxieties!

Posted 4 years 5 months ago #61798The usual advice is "moss is good, lichen is bad". But I think both are bad if they are growing on trunks and branches.

Got it all wrong, sorry, my bad.
It is exactly the opposite of what I said.
Moss on trunks is bad, not lichen.
Thanks for pointing it out to me M5eaygeoff. I better shut up from now on.
