Help with Japanese Maple - not sure if Acer Palmatum or unspecified. was created by illition
Posted 4 years 5 months ago #61619It was repotted at the Nursery, it gets direct morning sun for about 3-4 hours and watered every 1-1.5 days. A few days later I started noticing some brown spots on the leaves. *First photo was taken 1 week ago, following photos were taken yesterday.
The nursery told me to give bright sun throughout the day, and to water when dry (approx every 2 days).
Would appreciate the help! Any ideas?

Thanks for the reply! I have spoken to them already but they haven't given me a definitive answer, not the most helpful to be honest.
All they said is that they don't know the exact species name, and I can read online about how to take care of it.
They did say that giving it more sun will keep the leaves redder, but from what I'm reading online now - I'm starting to think the leaves may be sunburnt.

Posted 4 years 5 months ago #61659I am not sure if this species can survive in your climate. Please consult any local gardening group.

Thanks for the reply! I have consulted with local group on Facebook, waiting on some confirmed feedback. However, I have seen many locals growing these in their homes, and they are also sold widely in Nurseries - so I assume they must be able to thrive (maybe not the most easily).

Thanks for your reply! I'll try that out as well, I've also bought a moisture meter to kind of take away the guessing from the amount of watering to do.
However, it's really humid here around 70-80% humidity all year round.

Dont grow Acer inside. That is a sure way to kill them.

Sorry for the phrasing, I meant in their homes - but Outdoors.
I have bought some grow lights to supplement the light that my Acer Palmatum gets - and hopefully this will help.
