Take a hose with a sprinkler head or a watering can with a sprinkler head and pour water over the top of the tree so that it falls into the soil below, until water pours out of the bottom of the pot. The water here acts like rain.
How often depends on a lot of things, but mainly when the soil feels dry. In winter time that will be maybe once a week, summer maybe twice a day. For a deciduous tree, if the leaves look sort of wilting you are late and water immediately. I water fairly early in the morning and this time of year maybe a second time. In August it will be twice almost every day.

Do People really wet the canopy every day? Where I live everyone is watering the soil only. We have enough rain to wet the canopy from time to time anyway.

I do, first I water the soil of every single tree, then i give them all a quick shower

I try to avoid water on the leaves, I never deliberately do it Some species do not like water on needles or leaves. Rain is different, and unavoidable
