I would not do any trimming this year. I am not sure when it was repotted. If you did not repot, you could consider bringing this main brnach upward. Heavy wire works. Or consider just using a stake, attached to the main trunk and bringing the new main trunk up using the staketo keep it up.
What you would wire down, are the small branches that are kept on the long run, so the ones that you see in the suggestion I posted.
The main branches that from of the trunk now (the 4 or so arms that you will cut of later) .. Just let them be. They will help keep the tree healthy. THose you can cut off when the tree is healthy.

I really LOVE the natural curvature and that was part of the reason I chose this specimen. If I choose the bottom branch, I'd be forced to yin half of the trunk off and I'd lose that aesthetic. What if I were to still do literati, but choose the very top branch to do it with and cut the branches below it off. Then yin the trunk when it's time and take very little trunk off. I think that could look VERY nice. Thanks for helping me figure out what I want to do. Probably not a good time yet to cut any branches off though so I'll only rewire appropriately now and wait until the winter, let it get stronger, and then I'll take action. Sound good?
Btw, do you name your bonsais?
You could of course do that. I choose that branch specifically, because it has a few branches that are spaced out enough to still create a bit of a crown. I personally do not see the added value of the upper half of the trunk . But your tree, your choice!
I do not name my bonsai. Naming bonsai happens but normally these are trees of extreme fame or on their way to become well known. I think naming my trees would be a display of misplaced arrogance

I live in a flat on the second floor in Wilton Salisbury in the UK. My bonsai is placed on my drawer in my room, or should I move it to the widow?
Hi Pierre, I responded on your question here:

and here:

I think it would be good to start a separate thread for your tree
