Growing from seeds was created by 名媛直播 Al

I have tried to grown bonsai from seeds before in the past and had little luck. Before I have tried the whole soaking seeds for 24 hours then potting and putting in the fridge for 4-6 weeks. However, these attempts have never been successful. I have since adapted the garden and cleared a flowerbed. I have built a cage to go over where I intend to plant the seeds. I am looking for advice. I have Japanese Red Maple seeds, (about 60 in total) and am wondering, do I still need to soak them before planting. Do I just sprinkle the seeds on the soil/compost and leave them to bed themselves? Any advice or step by step guides would be very handy and very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

WHere did you get the seeds?

It is always best to use somewhat fresh seeds, which is not what you have now, most likely.

Where do you live? Maple seeds need a cold period to germinate.

I bought the seeds online.

I live in the Uk. Hot summer right now, would I be better waiting until Autumn to plant them?

Do I need to soak the seeds first?

名媛直播 are not grown from seed. Trees are. It will be many years before you have bonsai. You would be far better to buy a plant from a garden centre and grow it whilst trying to grow seeds. At least that way you will not get bored and give up after a few weeks because nothing is happening or the seedlings are too slow and you can't do any thing to them, or of course they germinate and then die off for various reasons, and you have to start again or give up. Seeds that are advertised on the internet may well be old and not viable, but you will not be able to complain if they fail to germinate as you would have to wait a long time to see if they are going to germinate. Collecting seeds from trees in the wiid will allow you to have fresh seed and they are free. So you have some ground that you can use, get some plants from a garden centre and plant them in the ground, Cotoneaster, Hawthorn, Pyracantha, and many more Also get some Maples that are 2 or 3 years old and at least you know they are alive. Plant them and watch them grow. Sow the seed you have if you want, but don't hold your breath they may not come up. I would sow them in a box or pot and put the in fridge for a week, otherwise if you leave them they will become even less viable

I already have a bonsai tree, a Chinese Elm and also have an outdoor 名媛直播. I know 名媛直播's will take years to grow and I can be patient. I have also tried the fridge thing before and it has never worked for me so aiming to try a more natural approach. Would I need to soak the seeds for 24 hours first like if Im using stratification or not?

Chinese Elm is a hardy species and does not do well inside. You would be better leaving until autumn, but the seed will be less viable
