Welcome to the empire!

Well.. Time for lesson one.. Do not buy from them again. This is such a common species that if they cannot tell you what it is, they have no idea what they are doing. It is a chinese elm.

Looks like they are indoos on a windowsill. Is there a heater below it? Hot roots can be propblematic.
Depending on your locality, you can probably keep them outside. No need to protect these for temperatures up to -10c (Although you should not move them from indoors to freezing weather directly!)

Roots are iffy for most trees. So keeping your soil too wet, or too dry, can cause trouble.

How do you care for the tree? When / how do you water it? What is the local climate it is subjected to?

Thank you for your quick response leatherback. Now i am sure you know x10 more about 名媛直播 than i do, however i have a healthy chinese elm already, and these 2 new commercial bonsai have slightly different looking leaves. Ill show you my "good" chinese elm.

There is a heater below the window, however it is never on. I like in the UK (temperate). I have a moisture meter that i use to see how moist the the soil is a root level before i water ever couple of days during winter. I am new to 名媛直播 and am yet to go through my first summer with them so i am currently learning in the fly :)

Hey, I can be wrong of course. Do you have a clear picture of just a branch with a few leaves?
Maybe also of the bark on the trunk?

The first "new" tree you have is a Chinese Elm, for sure as leatherback has said.
Your "old" elm seems to be a Zelkova (Japanese Elm), sold as Chinese Elm because Elms were forbidden to be imported into the UK due to diseases.

Thanks for all the responses. I have joined many forums in the past for other topics and nobody was engaging, so this is great :).

I have heard about Japanese Elms being miss labelled, actually. I will post some clearer pictures of the trunks and leaves. My "old" elm seems to have a rougher trunk, while the "new" elms appear much smoother....

Awesome, thank you. Are you confident that my "old" elm is Zelkova? What are the distinct differences in character between Chinese Elm and Zelkova ? Is the texture of the bark and indicator at all ?

Leaves.
Zelkova 's are bigger, more pointy and more serrated.
