Well, tbh I live in Northern Italy and I do have to worry about them too, sometimes
Every now and then we can have a week or so with -10 or -15 at night, with very strong, dry winds. That can be rather dangerous.
But it's limited to those days, indeed.

Not being familier with the weather patterns in Northern Italy, I wouldn't want to comment on it... I grew up in the northern Midwest of the United States, so I'm very familiar with their winters... which can sometimes reach -25 or -30 C, without the wind chill factor. It didn't get that cold very often, or for very long... but it did happen.
