Yep, the tree will have no foliage, the tree will not be growing, so it will not be able to do much with fertilizer.
And do I need to protect it from the frost? And if so how and with what? I live in the U.K. ( southwest ) so it's getting pretty chilly here now
It will probably not get cold enough to be a problem. To be certain, look up the temperature tolerance for this tree. You may want to protect it if it gets really cold.

Yeah you can stop fetilising until growth starts again. It will probably be fine without protection but it's so nice I'd say err on the side of caution. Unheated shed or garage etc would be fine.
