Absolutely - at the end every garden has its own microclimate and we just need to do what we believe suits these circumstances. For example I always read that pines like dryer soils, but myne like it very very wet. As soon as I don't water twice a day they start showing signs of stress. So after you learned it all (which is never) you have to make it in your own way.

But yes, in general, they are a risk.

I agree with Auk in disagreeing: tests showed that urine should be dissolved in 30 parts water to be safe when used as fertiliser - otherwise it's too strong.
