I've placed a load of fertilizer containers in the pot of my juniper yesterday... and this morning found 3 of them in the lawn. Wonder who did this. A bird I guess. Our dog can't reach it, our cat... could, but I wouldn't expect him to be interested (though it seems someone chewed on it).

Do you have magpies around? I would suspect they are one of the birds strong enough. Or a marter-like creature??

Looks like something my lovebirds would do. However, I just checked them out and they're still chewing seeds, so no plastic. Could've been a bird yes, but what bird would sneak out your fertilizer?
What kind of cakes do you use?

Contrainer: DCM2 pellets, some cow dung pellets, and some are filled with a left over of Biogold.
Yes, we have magpies. No marters as far as I know.
Let's see what happens tomorrow. If they continue to do it, I may have to try and find some chicken wire to protect the containers.

No squirrels or rabits.
There is a magpie in our neighbour's tree (or probably a couple).

Why would a bird want to eat those pellets? Have you though of putting up a camera to see what kind of creature snitches your cakes?

My wife's theory is that it went for the insects that are attracted to the fertilizer. Doesn't make sense to me though.
A camera would be interesting (also for other purposes), but I don't have one.
Might have been a Jackdaw, got loads of 'm here. Maybe it was just curious (as it has happened only once up till now).
