hi so this will probably be a bit long but i got my first benjamina ficus last year and watched some videos on how to treat it and it said to fertilize it which i did and it was fine until like autumn where i think i started to fertilize it almost every week or every other week and i started to see like dried white salt like on the soil which i think is dried natrium or smth like that. At the time i didnt know that it was bcs of the fertilizer and then during like november the leaves and the new sprouts started to dry up and turn grey/brown/yellowish and then i learned that it could be that i have over fertilized it. I stopped fertilize it and saw that i could repot it but that it wouldnt guarantee that the tree would survive. I havent repotted it but im just watering it with normal water, the tree/branch still looks a bit dry and wrinkled but when i chip away a little bit of the bark its still green which probably means that its still alive.?

So my question would be do yall think i should do. It doesnt have any leaves anymore but should i trim the length so it could focus more on the roots? ?or do yall think that it wont survive and that i should throw it away? or do you have any other advice?

Firstly, where are you? Next how are you watering,? most problems come from incorrect watering. Next where is the plant placed?? Again bad placement can have an adverse effect. What fertiliser were you using and how much? Do not re pot, there is no need, I doubt that it was too much fertiliser, and what is on the surface will do no harm at all. And a picture helps a lot

Fertilizer should be used execivly in summer and with caution or not at all in winter. It seems like you did it the other way around?
