I have a number of outdoor bonsai trees including Silver Birch, Hornbeam, Oak, Carpet Juniper, Weeping Willow, Crab Apple,?
Dawn Redwood, Field Maple and Pyracantha. I can find plenty of advice on watering and fertilizing bonsai in general terms. However, should watering and fertilizing be different during the winter months?

Fertiliser no. Watering will depend on how much rain you get, I have not watered since early October, and probably will not water again until February or later, apart from the ones I have under cover. Then it will depend how they dry out. Depending on where you are in the world will also have a bearing on watering.

Watering scedule is the same all year. Water only when the surface of the soil looks dry or close to dry. The frequncy largelly differs. In my area october and forward is very wet. I actually put my trees under roof in authum so they are not totally saturated when the cold hits. I have a habit to water carefully one time around christmas and next time when spring arives and the trees are budding up. But as Geoff say, your climate dictates the need of watering.

I only fertilize heavy in late spring. In summer I use pond water that is light on natural fertilizer. From leaf drop until budding out, no fertilizer.

Local climate is all that matters.

We have not had rain for weeks, with high temperatures 82F/28C.

I water every other day.

Leaves just started turning and some of the trees have dropped leaves, but I have several deciduous evergreens.? I will gave to think about watering all winter.
