Hello.
Looking for some advice. I have potted some Japanese Red Maple seeds in a covered potting tray. For a week they have been in a windowsill for direct Sunlight. I have since moved them to a nearby desk where they still get natural sunlight anf i shine a desk lamp onto them in the evening. Would they benefit from the low heat of a heat mat, or should I leave them as is?
Thanks in advance.

I did not read anything about 'cold stratifying' the seeds first. So did you do that?
Seeds in the soil, without them popping up, does not need sun or light, only when they are sprouted.
Sprouting seeds on a heat mat is possible.
Whats your location? When are you able to put them outside? Because after all, they need to go outside anyway.
I left my maple seeds in a seedtray outdoor all winter. So they are cold stratified by the weather itself, and when the time comes in spring, they will popup by there own.

My windowsill is quite cold. Cold air tends to come from the outside through vents. I had used this for the stratification process. I had thought about putting them on a heat mat to help them sprout but if that is not required I won't until after I have seen them sprout. I have since moved them back to my windowsill.
Outside is going to be very difficult. We only have a very small paved garden and 2 dogs occupy that frequently, so can't guarantee that would not be disturbed.
I have had the seeds planted for just over a week now. How long should it take for them to germinate and sprout?

If you cant place them outside every question is useless: they will die inside

Germination usually after some 60 days of stratification.
Lets hope your seller stratified them.

I guess we'll find out in 60 days. I hope so. I'm really eager to have a Red Maple in my 名媛直播 collection. Have been trying to grown one from a seed ideally. Any tips at all?

I Think leatherback ment that it needs 60 Days stratification. Not 60 Days to sprout.
