Good day, good sirs.
I'm thinking of buying a cutter, but I'm not sure which is better. So, maybe ,you could help me.
Which one is worth buying for a bonsai-newbie or just a plant-lover?
1) Japanese, carbon steel, 210mm, $38
Or
2) Chinese, stainless steel, 165mm, $32
P.S. I hope it's ok to post links here?

Hm.. When it comes to bonsai tools, quality and price most of the time go hand in hand. These look very similar. I think I would prefer the carbon steel, instead f the stainless. These can be sharpened better.
In the end the tools will both last a long time as long as you do not force them. The better the tool, the more abuse then can take before they bend. I basically only have cheap brandless tools, and find they work fine for me. But I do keep them sharp and rather do work in small steps, removing large sections small bites at a time.

depends a lot on where you are. But what you are showing, 20-30 euro is the start for reasonable cheap tools.

What is cheap in Europe or USA here, in Russia, becomes unreasonably expensive and hard to find :S
Thank you very much for your opinion, leatherback!
