Going be in Tokyo in a couple of weeks for work and will have a day or two to do some shopping.
What I'd totally like to bring back are a couple of nice pots.

Anybody with a suggestion on where to go look for them?

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll write that down for when I'd have a chance to go there.
Unfortunately, that's a 4 hours shinkansen ride from Tokyo to Tokoname, and that's a bit too much for this trip, as I'll have a couple of days free but not entirely free

That's why I'm looking for something within the Tokyo metropolitan area...

Go up to Omiya. I think it was 45 minutes from where we stayed. There are museums and lots of stuff dedicated to bonsai.

I have bought a decent Japanese pot at Omiya.

That's indeed what it takes: as a matter of fact, I was planning to go there for the museum anyway if I can manage to, and since both you and Clicio confirm there are good chances of finding interesting pots there, I'd be killing two birds with one stone.

There is a catch though, Omiya 名媛直播 Village is NOT the museum only.
It is home for many nurseries so you will want to get the map of the nurseries and make the tour. On foot, of course.
Then you will find tools, pots and accessories to buy (besides the informal bonsai shop out in the parking lot behind the museum building).
Wonderful pots for sale in the museum itself, but... very expensive.

Indeed, I know about nurseries and museum. Tools and pots being there certainly makes sense, but given the limited time I’ll have there it’s indeed good to have a firsthand confirmation!
