Hi all, new to this forum. Anyone comments on this cascading willow. I found it on this rock about 3 years ago.

Are you sure it is a willow?

To me, cascading style doesn't look appropriate for birch. However, I don't see a cascade or semi-cascade, it looks more like wind-swept.
I think it really needs a different pot (don't go repotting now because I said that, let it recover and grow first :) )

And again i stand corrected. it is indeed intended as wind swept.
Need to get some focus after 25 years of not growing bonsai :-(

Wind swept as Auk said. I like that you planted it on a rock, it kind of saved the material. This remind me of a willow I saw at the nursery after browsing for trees (haven't found any this year). Beautiful trunk, great material for an awesome price. Cash only, didn't have cash with me, went back the next day, the tree was gone.

Looking good!
Don't you think some of the roots need a tidying up? The ones near the soil, some broken and dead ones that don't add to the design?
But I must be jealous, your little tree is going in a good direction!

Definitely needs cleaning. Was waiting for spring to see which ones survived. Hoping for some thickening in the front side ones.
Will post more during spring summer.
