I am new to this and am looking for ideas and advice on how to prune this maple.
An idea I had would be to incline the tree slightly to the right (following the blue arrows) as the roots seem currently higher on the right side (green arrows) and chop the large branch / second trunk on the right at the level of the red line. Then cut the main trunk a little bit higher (maybe next year?)
But as I said, quite new to this so looking for advice. Would anyone keep both trunks? Or is the split too high? Am I better off chopping one of them off entirely?
Thank you for your help!

I would xhop a lot lower, assuming this is the trunk you want? Then grow a next section. That being said.. you could remove both thick branches completely, and only work with the small side branch to build your tree..
