Dont fall in the trap of quickly cutting new shoots when start appearing. You should wait until they are more mature before you cutt them off ;)

Well that would depend if the shoots are in an area you want them to grow. If you let the shoot mature and then cut them off that's just going to be wasting the plants energy.
