and wehre does a tiny twig end, and a small branch start?
asking is easy, and before you know it, you are handed a bunch cutting. And often there are great deals to be had on second hand websites, where for a few pennies nice plants are given away

Posted 13 years 3 weeks ago #4160I might be an exception, but I have access to a 15 acre parcel in the Northern Maine woods, and access to another 12 acres in Eastern Maine. I figure, If I can't get it there, I don't need it....unless it's a tree from a nursery, but those are purchased. haha.

Oh well - they were easy to root - just hard to keep alive. Winter wasn't really the best time to do it - but what else can you do when you're itching to watch something grow???
Anyway - I took a branch about an inch in diameter off of the Black Willow tree that I mentioned growing near my office - and wow. It has exploded in growth even faster and more vigorously than the corkscrews. And with a cutting an inch in diameter - it's almost like instant bonsai. The styling is going to be a little weird for awhile until I can get it under control - but this thing is growing like you wouldn't believe!
I'll post pics when I can.
