Hello,
Two weeks ago I collected this interesting Larch as my 1st bigger tree (+/- 4,5cm trunk width near ground).
I started digging deeper into the 名媛直播 hobby last year when i collected only small "sticks" not exactly trees? .
This Larch was growing in pretty rough and rocky ground - long tap root and not so many small roots so i want the tree to grow better root structure first.
I am coming here to the forum with few questions/opinions.
Guess thats all for now.
Thanks in advance to anyone who would reply.

- Should I shorten the long branches little bit or should i let it grow wild for now?
- In future i will cut that middle dead branch shorter to make smaller jin out of it maybe.
- Thinking about future style of my tree - hope it will survive. I would like to keep both live branches and do some kind of semi-cascade/cascade with wind swept top branches from that right loooong branch without buds on the old wood, but i dont actually know how it would look when its reaching too far out. (Someone told me that it would be better to take that right branch off completely.) What do you think?
- Can i apply?wire just to bend few branches little bit - not with force but just to make sure the needles are getting all the light they need.
- I am assuming that any heavy bending/pruning and styling should be done next year or maybe 2 years from now right?
Guess thats all for now.
Thanks in advance to anyone who would reply.

As you have only just dug this plant you have to leave it alone for at least a year, You don't say where you are, but my Larch are all in leaf now. Water and fertiliser only this year, and as long as it has grown well then it could be leaving it for a second year would be better.

I totally agree with Geoff. Do not hurry into anything.
you say that one option is to remove the right branch. I guess you mean the second branch growing in an Y? I would actually concider removing the left straight trunk and use the right one instead. It has so much more interesting movement. But not now, you have plenty of time to take the right decitions before it it time for action. And my 1 minute hunch based on a two dimensional photo does not mean much compared to you looking at the three dimensional tree several times during the next year. I am sure you can come up with the best design in your opinion.??

Hello,
Thanks to both of you for your reply.
Geoff - I am from Czech, we had colder 2 weeks now with not much sun and the tree was growing in shade of bigger trees before i collected it, so it might be the cause of only partially open buds just yet.
Trop - Actually that middle trunk growing in Y shape is dead so i will shorten it and make a jin out of it probably in the future. (marked the dead trunk in picture)
For now i will let the tree grow and heal as you said and i will try to come up with an idea how to style it next year or after 2 years.
Thanks one more time!

Ahh, now I see it is dead! I would proboably not make a Jin there, but it is your tree and jins can aleays be removed.

lookig at your last picture, I see potential for a cascade type tree.. but like the others have said.. let it grow first.. larches do not like having their roots messed with.?
