when to prune dwarf pomegranante

Hi there, i found this dwarf pomegranate at my hardware store and because of its small fruit and flowers i decided it might bonsai well.
I have just potted it so i will leave it for about a month to settle. when is the optimum time for pruning as to not stress this tree. its about a month from spring where i am.
any pointers would be good.
its very leggy right now but i'm happy for it to grow out a bit to thicken the base.

i would not prune and lit it grow for a few years to get some trunk going.

Yep, I second LB on that, just let it grow for now, the best moment to prune, I would say it's a balance, not too early that it's too slim, and not too late that would leave a scar too big and hard to close (unless you're ok with that), on this small pot it will take a few years to get a good thick base...
