Giant Sequoia cones was created by 1ggy

Hello,
I am in London UK and I have a Giant Sequoia Tree approx 5ft tall. It has produced cones right at the top apex. Are these likely to take energy away from other parts of the tree so I need to cut them off? Or should I leave them to mature?
Thanks
Iggy

It makes no difference, you can leave them if you want. They do not take energy from the plant.

mmmmm, I'm not sure, I would think that everything a tree produce needs energy from the tree, so I would remove them.

of course it uses energy but that is normal and will not have a detrimental effect on the tree. The only thing that will happen is there will be no growth from the point where the cone is. Cones are seed pots it is a natural ocurrance and will do no harm.

If you aim at developing your tree further, you should not allow too many fruiting bodies to develop as they take resources which the tree could use for growth. Keep one or two if you like them, but remove the rest.
