So I have a ficus bonsai and there is this large fat branch thing growing out of the side and I was wondering if I’m able to prune/cut the whole thing off because it kind of ruins the look, or will it cause a wound too big that would damage the tree?

Hello there!
Probably not, but can we have a picture of what we are talking about?

Please help us help you.
What do you want to cut off? The old root on the left? The root on the right?
The one on the left does not SEEM to be in the ground? So can be removed. Ficus is slow in closing wounds. But then again.. I have a ficus with cuts of 10cm diameter which is quite happy.

Yea. All that’s on the left is what I’m asking about. I don’t know if removing it will cause a wound too big. (I’m pretty new to owning bonsai and I have done research, but I couldint find an answer to what I’m asking elsewhere)
