I just bought this maple and would really appreciate any suggestions for improving. I would like to lower the canopy. When/how should I prune?I'm in central Florida. Thanks.

With you living in Florida the tree won't really have a dormant period so telling you the best time for wiring or pruning I'm not sure, typically you want to do the wiring and pruning in spring time, that's when the branches are most flexible and the maple or sap is starring to rise, meaning it will have a less effect on the trees health.
